........Giovanni Tartaglia was born November 21, 1985 and grew up in a small town in the Campania region of southern Italy between Caserta and Naples. At the age of eight, in 1994, his father decided to take the family on a trip to the United States and visit his grandfather who had been living there for over forty years. Since then, Giovanni and his family created a new life in the U.S. and remained in the beautiful city of San Diego, California.

........As a child, Giovanni had many hobbies, many of them being various forms of arts and crafts. "I've always loved to entertain and be creative", says Giovanni, "I began at an early age to perform magic illusions, which to this day still allows me to meet great new people from all over the world." Performing magic came in really handy for Giovanni, especially working in the restaurant industry with his father, entertaining customers from different cultures and all parts of the world. His crafts though, didn't stop there. Giovanni developed another passion during his early years as a child, and that is in music. His family would host karaoke parties on holidays and events, allowing Giovanni to gain confidence singing in front of large crowds. As the years went by, he began recording cover songs by famous R&B and Rock artists, as well as demos for independent songwriters & producers, winning various singing contests along the way. Although Giovanni had love for so many various arts, there was one art that captured his heart and imagination, this was the art of filmmaking.

......."I remember watching movies as a kid and rewinding various scenes to analyze them and see how they came together like a puzzle. I would pay attention to the movement of the camera, the angles, and how the lighting gave each film a unique look, like an artist's painting", explains Giovanni. When he was 12 years old, his father bought the first videocamera to capture images of family trips and special moments, and since then he was hooked. Giovanni's father realized that his son handled the camera well and knew all its features, eventually placing him in charge of filming and taking care of the camera wherever they would go. "My parents would be surprised at how smooth and steady the footage looked, unlike the common home videos which are usually shaky and out of focus", Giovanni says. When DVD movies began becoming popular, Giovanni's passion for filmmaking increased as he loved the behind-the-scenes documentaries they featured, revealing the secrets of the hard work that goes into every production. Giovanni would spend hours, days, and months creating short video segments using stop-motion to animate action figures, and making short films with the help of his younger brother and friends, attempting to re-create the camera angles and movements used by famous directors. He was very influenced by directors such as, Ron Howard (Apollo 13, Ransom), Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Blade Runner), Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones), Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas, The Departed), and his favorite of all Christopher Nolan (Memento, Inception). Giovanni's first experience on a professional film set was at the early age of 15, landing a position as a second-unit camera operator intern for an independent local production company based in San Diego, CA. During that time he also created his own personal website and low-budget production company Mediterranean Pictures. During his high school career, Giovanni was involved in various classes that prepared him with the basics of an introduction in film. He became a member of the school's theatrical department, in which he was then chosen as stage manager and assistant director for a few of the school plays. Working in theater helped Giovanni understand various acting techniques and working around actors. Also, a photography course helped Giovanni learn more about film exposure and image composition, as well as a video editing class that taught the basics of non-linear digital editing. After high school, Giovanni went on to study film at LAFS (Los Angeles Film School) located in Hollywood, CA. There he learned everything from producing, to editing, and lighting, but graduated with a focus in Directing. His thesis film for school which he wrote & directed, is entitled "A Life Within", a psychological drama about a man who is haunted by strange visions, eventually leading to the shocking truth about his life and family.

.......Although Giovanni's style of filmmaking leans more towards suspense/drama and action, he believes an artist should be versatile and able to pursue any style and form. Comedy is another genre he enjoys working with. Gaining popularity amongst his friends and family for his impressions of people, he went on to create a comedy-spoof miniseries entitled, "The SCARFACE Chronicles", in which Giovanni himself portrays a modern version of Tony Montana in comedic situations. He continued on to make short comedy skits in which many of the scenes are improvised, allowing Giovanni to show his talents not only behind the camera, but in front on-screen as well.
